Marj EbensteinerBoard Chair
Marj has served as Chair for the North East Seniors Board of Directors for six years. She also chairs the Ramsey- Washington Watershed Board of Directors and the city of Saint Paul’s STAR Board. Marj is a reading mentor at Hazel Park Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Psychology with course work in anthropology, political science and social work. She was a Management Consultant with MN/DOT for 34 years and is currently retired. |
Loretta NovakBoard Vice-chair
As a founding member of North East Seniors, Loretta has served as a strongly dedicated board member since its inception in 2006. Loretta has extensive experience as an employment counselor in multiple settings. She has B.A./B.S. degrees in Sociology, American History and Psychology. Loretta has been a consultant to the Maplewood Senior Task Force and is a member of the East Side Health and Wellness Collaborative. She was a past winner of the Ramsey County Citizen of the Year Award and she is a member of the District 2 Community Council Board. |
Luci Radde BotzekBoard Member
Luci has a variety of experience in the public sector at top management positions. Most recently she served seven years as the Deputy County Administrator for Sherburne County. Her wide range of experience has served her well as a registered lobbyist for a variety of clients at the legislature and before state agencies. Luci is a partner in the lobbying and association management firm Capitol Connections. Luci graduated from Hamline University and William Mitchell College of Law. On a personal level Luci spent two years guiding her mother as she transitioned from living independently to Medicaid, hospice and ultimate death. |
Sandy DelaforestBoard Member
Sandy is a registered nurse (RN). She graduated from Lakewood College with an A.A. Degree in Nursing. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Metropolitan State University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Augsburg University. Sandy’s work experience includes R.N. experience in the emergency room, cardiac care and Intensive Care. She has also done crises intervention in many different settings. Sandy is a life-long volunteer, as an NES board member she guides Century College nursing students as they interact with our clients. |
Carole FaricyBoard Member
Carole’s firm, Faricy, Thompson & Associates LLC was a political fundraising and consulting firm that began in 1982 & closed in 2014. Some of her clients were Mayors George Latimer, Chris Coleman, Sharon Sayles Belton, State DFL, Congressman Martin Sabo and Jim Graves for Congress. Carole let the Anita Faye Hill Fund in 1991 and raised $250,000 for the fund. In 1989 Carole was chair of the Metropolitan Transit Commission & brought in-house management to the transit commission. In 2005 Carole was awarded membership in the DFL Women’s Hall of Fame. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a liberal arts degree. Carole spent many years as a caregiver for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease. |
John (Jack) LorenzBoard Member
Jack previously worked at the Ford Plant in St. Paul and is now retired. He has volunteered for NE Seniors with the Brown Bag Program, mowing lawns and as a handyman. He was born and raised on the East Side of St. Paul. He currently volunteers as a reading mentor at Hazel Park Elementary school. |
Karla SandBoard Member
Karla is a lifetime active member of the DFL, holding many positions. She is also a 11-year member and officer of the DFL Senior Caucus. She is currently a volunteer Medicare counselor for MAAA and was chair of the Maplewood Senior Advisory Task Force. She is a graduate of Metropolitan University in Human Resources/Volunteers and employed as a Human Resources Representative for 15 years. She is currently enrolled in Medicare. |
Ray HessBoard Member
Ray is a fourth generation Eastsider who has lived his whole life in Ramsey County. He has been active on St. Paul boards, committees, and volunteer projects for 50 years. He does volunteer driving, attends social events, and drives for field trips and outings. |
Marlene WackerBoard Member
As a life-long St. Paulite, Marlene has made many contributions to her community, seniors and persons with disabilities. A mother of ten, including two sets of twins, Marlene has served on the boards of Blessed Sacrament and Hill Murray. After retiring from the federal government’s Treasury Department, she is now the Adoration Chapel and Pastoral Ministry Coordinator at Blessed Sacrament Parish. As the Pastoral Ministry Coordinator, she visits with folks that are homebound, organizes senior citizen events and luncheons following special masses. Marlene has attended workshops and seminars on aging and folks with disabilities. As an original board member of North East Seniors, Marlene has played an active role, formerly as secretary, and now board member. |
Angelique Corcoran
Board Member
As a long-time resident of Saint Paul, Angelique worked and raised her family on the East Side. She is a self-employed small business owner of Axiomas, a company that creates and sells specialty products for children and adults. Angelique has spent over 10 years as a North East Seniors volunteer in the area of memory loss and caregiving. She does extensive client transportation and hands-on participation and support for our Memory Café and Social Club events. Angelique was elected to the Board of Directors in the spring of 2017.
